O Love, How Deep

This week's hymn turned out well, and I wanted more folks to hear it.
At seminary, our music director, Henry Gerike had a talent for getting together a group of singers and recording the voice. He would just have people sing in the chapel and that space would have wonderful reverb for those recordings. In recording these hymns I wanted to do something like that. I sing the hymn with various parts in several tracks. I don't have a space like that available, so I add reverb after the recording has been made. This hymn probably took about an hour to fully record and set up.
These hymns, many centuries old have great melodies and harmonies, and more importantly, great messages. Pay close attention to what the words are saying.

Creation V - The Creation of the Woman

Creation V - The Creation of the Woman. Procreation is by design - it is not necessarily a given in the evolutionary model. But in the Biblical understanding, procreation was designed by God, and completely necessary for the continuation of humanity, and life itself.
The hymn for this podcast is #544, LSB - O Love, How Deep-a great hymn that you may have never heard or known of before.

The Creation Part IV - The Creation of Man

Saturday Jun 20, 2020
The Creation narrative is foundational to understanding our origins. Whether a person believes in biblical creation or the evolutionary narrative, one has to acknowledge that no one was there in the beginning who was alive today. The Bible tells us that there was one there who witnessed what happened and passed this knowledge to Moses, who wrote the first five books of the Bible. Our hymn is #604 from the LSB, "I Bind Unto Myself Today." All the readings come from the English Standard version of Scripture.

In celebration of Trinity Sunday

Last night I finished a podcast somewhat later in the evening, and I like to do a hymn at the end, but playing piano and singing takes me a while to get everything right. Because Trinity Sunday is coming up, I thought I’d at least sing a verse, but then I added a little reverb, which led me to 4 part harmony, then another verse, then another verse, then a final verse with parts as well. The product of that is what the end of last night’s podcast finished with. My original intention was to keep it simple.
But then today I wanted to fix some things, and fill out the last verse some more with parts. Here it is.
