God Sends Help and Has Come to Rescue You

Exodus 13.

Israel has really whacked the hornets' nest now.  Pharaoh gives chase, and the people are on their way to a new destination, free from the land of slavery and death.  Like His firstborn, Israel, God has come to rescue you.  And He has come to rout the serpent and the serpent's agents.  How does He do it?

Exodus 12.  

The Exodus of the Israelites is a model of larger humanity's Exodus from slavery to sin, death, and the devil.  What was God doing in this Exodus, and how did God accomplish our Exodus?

The Rise and Fall of Egypt

Exodus 11.  

As you look back on your life, you can probably remember times of considerable blessings, and possibly times of considerable misery, but God provides.  He gives faith by His Holy Spirit, and life and salvation through His Son.  

God can make abundance disappear, and bring abundance from nothing.  He makes it happen without our deserving, but gives His grace, love and mercy to those who believe in Him.  He also causes the rain to fall and the sun to shine on the just and unjust alike . . . .  God provides.  

The Israelites plundered Egypt on their way out, and just as easily as Egypt rose, it fell with the plague of the firstborn.

This week we talk about Exodus 10.  

God strips Egypt bare of vegetation with locusts, and yet pharaoh will still not relent.  A man who thinks he's god faces the true God.  A powerful darkness fills the land.  Judgment is coming . . . .  What other times is a powerful darkness mentioned in Scripture, and how did God cut through it?

Do you ever wonder if some people are just completely lost causes?  

It may seem so, but God is greater than our brokenness.

The Unmistakable Work of God

Exodus 8.  

The book of Romans points out that we should be able discern God from nature.  And it is true-if we do not deny it.  

Pharaoh saw the unmistakable work of God.  Would he turn away from his hardness of heart, and away from the precipice in time?  

What banner did pharaoh operate under?  What banner do we fly?  

 

Hymn of the week: For All the Saints

Only God knows Your Thoughts

Exodus 7.  

In the times that we fear, it is comforting to know that only God knows our thoughts.  

Even darkness is as light to Him, for He sees all and knows all.  

He makes nothing out of the false gods of Egypt. 

In the modern world, God's work has been relegated to insignificance in the minds of the proud, but God has a way of pushing the swords of the supernatural into the world whether mankind likes it or not.  

This is a comfort, because He sent His Son Jesus to make payment for our sins, and restore us completely by grace, through faith, in Him.

The serpent has been laying its eggs through the world in various times and places, but God is far bigger and unmatched in His glory might and power.  He removes the serpent's eggs for us, and He has crushed the head of the serpent through His Son Jesus Christ . . . .

The God Who IS, WAS, and EVER WILL BE

The discussion is on Exodus 5.  

The God we worship is eternal-He is, He was always, and He ever will be, for eternity . . . .  He reveals who He is to Moses, and now Moses must go before Pharaoh and tell Pharaoh who He is . . . .  Pharaoh does not know who this God is.  But he is about to find out.
