The Graciousness of God
Friday Oct 28, 2022
Friday Oct 28, 2022
Matthew 20.
There are sometimes good people, benefactors in our lives who are generous with us and help us out; they are a blessing to us without our deserving their generosity. How much more our God is generous with us who have faith in Him and call upon Him!
Even in the Fallen world, God showers blessings upon us . . . . That is what the parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard is about-God's graciousness beyond our deserving.
We close out the podcast with a celebration of the Reformation in four hymns:
1. Thy Strong Word. -Tune: public domain. Setting: copyright 1969, Concordia Publishing House
2. Built on the Rock. -a public domain hym.
3. We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God. -Tune: public domain, text: 1999 Stephen P Starke, admin. CPH.
4. A Might Fortress (by Martin Luther). a public domain hymn.

Can YOU pass through the eye of a needle?
Friday Oct 21, 2022
Friday Oct 21, 2022
Text for discussion: Matthew 19.
In this chapter we find three challenging situations that upend our world . . . .
-What is the state of the divorced person before God?
-If children are more prepared for the kingdom of heaven, where does that leave those who are well beyond childhood?
-After going through all the things that life throws at me, how can I even enter the kingdom of God?
Are you ready to pass through the eye of the needle?

Friday Oct 07, 2022
Friday Oct 07, 2022
Join as we discuss Matthew 18.
The life well-lived is not what we expect; we may seek many things-among them wealth, power, prestige but God's priorities are different . . . . To enter the kingdom of heaven, we must become like little children, and to do that, the slate must be wiped clean . . . . How is it even possible? When Christ offers to us forgiveness unbound . . . .

Matthew 17.
Jesus fulfills the Torah, the Psalms, the Prophets, and all Scripture, He is the key that has been hidden from all ages, who is revealed in the Gospels. The Transfiguration is an event which points to Christ as this fulfillment in a number of ways . . . . He is also the key that opens the miracle of forgiveness to you, life, and salvation . . . .

When Truth Cuts Through Theater
Friday Sep 16, 2022
Friday Sep 16, 2022
Topic of discussion: Matthew 15.
So many times in life, people do not confront the real issues. They dance around them, and what we have instead is theater. Truth cuts through the charade and confronts us with the realities of life. Jesus always pushed to confront the issues of real importance, while others put their own righteousness ahead of the realities of God.
Jesus' truth cuts through their theater . . . .
Newly recorded him: "Lord, Keep Us Steadfast in Your Word". #655
A public domain hymn.

When the Winds of Life Blow
Friday Sep 09, 2022
Friday Sep 09, 2022
The text for discussion: Matthew 14.
Jesus faced the sorrow of losing his relative and friend, John the Baptist. He goes out to a desolate place to seek the Father, but where Jesus is, there is no desolation, and He has compassion on the crowds who seek His healing and feeds them.
In the times to come He will feed them with eternal things that only God can provide . . . .
The hymn: Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me

Powerful Parables
Friday Sep 02, 2022
Friday Sep 02, 2022
Text for discussion: Matthew 13.
Some of the most powerful connections we can make with another person is through our stories. Jesus uses the parables to connect with the crowds who gather on a deeper level. Yet, encoded in them are deeper meanings, hidden in them for the one who believes in Jesus.
Matthew 13 is chock full of these parables . . . . In this podcast we decode them together. . . .
The hymn: On My Heart Imprint Your Image

One Greater than Jonah
Friday Aug 26, 2022
Friday Aug 26, 2022
Discussion: Matthew 12.
Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. He was kind of a pitiful prophet when we look at his book in Scripture, yet Jesus uses Jonah as an example of the great sign which will show that Jesus is the Son of God.
Jonah ran from Nineveh, but Jesus didn't run from the great and mighty work that He would do for us on the cross; He truly shows that He is greater than Jonah . . . and all the prophets.
Hymn: O Love How Deep
